Hi guys,
So glad more of you subscribed on the newsletter that keeps you posted on a new post and as usual, no other spamming.
There might be many calendars used throughout the World of Oerth but the 'Greyhawk Calendar' is the most commonly used by players. It consists of 364 days, which is split in:
12 months, each with 28 days
Every 3 months there is a 7-day week festival of the season period (winter, spring, summer and Autumn)
The whole calendar is based on the cycles of the twin moons of Oerth, Luna and Celene. Due to these cycles Celene is always full at the midpoint of each festival.
Since the weeks are seven days, just as in our own world, it also has specific names for each day of the week. These days are named as followed:
Saturday Starday
Sunday Sunday
Monday Moonday
Tuesday Godsday Worship
Wednesday Waterday
Thursday Earthday
Friday Freeday Rest
Different to our own workweek it is actually Godsday (Tuesday) that is a day for worship and Freeday (Friday) is a rest day. On Godsday people will dedicate most of the day to your chosen deity with prayers and tasks in the name of <insert deity>, while on Friday a person does whatever he wants to do which for most people is actually ... resting, for it is a hard life.
Down below is a pdf download of the calendar I made. You will see all the months (including the season), festival weeks and the moon positions, as well as a few special days. I have added 3 tokens on the calendar that makes time keeping a bit easier:
⚔ = current day
💰 = pay monthly or weekly pay
🎂 = Birthday of a player
The official sources hold a lot of information on the specific festival and holy days and I urge you to browse them for whatever you are looking for. Readers of my blog can download the calendar down below, those who became patreons via my website (Patreonage) can receive the calendar in Ms Word as a gift.
