Welcome back to another review.

Back in 2021, after way too much research and second-guessing, I finally took the plunge and bought the Sennheiser PXC 550-II —and honestly, I couldn’t have been happier with that choice. The noise cancelling worked like a charm (especially on flights), and the comfort was unreal; I could wear them for hours while recording videos or playing RPGs without my ears complaining once. The sound felt rich and natural, and the touch controls quickly became second nature. I loved how portable they were too—just twist and fold, and they were ready to travel.
Looking back, that headset really delivered on every front and stuck with me for years; it was one of those rare pieces of gear you grow genuinely attached to.
Fast forward to the end of 2025, and my trusty headset is finally starting to show its age. The Bluetooth just isn’t keeping up anymore — it still plays nicely with my phone, but my PC connection now crackles like an old campfire. Luckily, the cable still saves the day, so I’m hanging on and using it happily. But let’s be honest — the time has come to start eyeing its successor. 2026 might be the year I finally retire my faithful Sennheiser (donate it to my partner) and move on to the next chapter.
I’m upgrading from my old Sennheiser PXC 550-II and I’m waiting for the next big thing: the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless. Right now there’s no official announcement from Sennheiser about the Momentum 5 — nothing confirmed on specs or a hard release date — so I’m treating everything I read as rumor for the time being.
That said, the chatter points in helpful directions. Several rumor pieces and wishlists expect Sennheiser to iterate on what people loved in the Momentum line: better ANC, longer battery life than the already-impressive MOMENTUM 4, sleeker ergonomics, and wider codec support (there’s talk of LDAC/aptX Adaptive possibilities). None of those are official — they’re sensible hopes based on how Sennheiser has released past models — so I’m keeping my expectations grounded until Sennheiser posts the specs. If you care about dates, a couple of rumour articles predict a release window sometime after 2025 (some writers eyeball spring 2026 as a plausible window), but again: unofficial.
If you’re like me be patient and picky is the best play.
While I’m waiting, it’s worth saying a quick word about the Momentum 4, because it’s the natural “now” alternative. The Momentum 4 already gave us industry-leading battery life (advertised up to ~60 hours and independently measured at just over 60 hours in testing), strong overall sound, and solid comfort for long sessions — exactly the traits I value coming from the PXC 550-II.

Reviews note that the ANC on the M4 is very good though not necessarily the absolute best compared to the top ANC champions, but for someone who values comfort and long runtimes the M4 is a very practical, mature choice.
Final Thoughts
Here’s how I frame my decision publicly: I wait. I’m happy to wait for an official Sennheiser reveal of the Momentum 5 because:
(1) I already have a perfectly serviceable pair (the PXC 550-II)
(2) I prefer to buy on confirmed specs rather than hype
(3) the Momentum 4 is a strong fallback if the 5’s timeline slips
