'We be Roleplaying'

This is less a code of what to do and not to do and more a view into what I am aiming for in any roleplay session.
🧌 Immersion (IC-OOC)
Although we use a VTT and images, theatre of the mind is still a vital part of the game.
It's helpful that everyone stays in character (IC) as much as possible and contributes to bring (and keep!) the story alive.
Talking IC and OOC can be confusing, so make sure we know who is talking so start with 'OOC' if you are talking as the player and not the character.
Few of us are actors, so I am not expecting anyone to be one during a game, but be inspired by such shows as ‘Acquisitions incorporated’ or ‘The Glass Canon Network’ and just have fun with it. Do not be afraid to try it out, I am doing the same and I feel awkward when I am the only one. ;-).
One basic tip I can offer is to not start your sentences with "My character does/ says..." When you talk, you ARE your character.
I do not expect cosplay during a game but if that is your jam, then know it is a safe space and you are allowed.
🧾 Avoid metagaming
Don't share information that you know, but your character wouldn't know, neither in game nor with other players.
Don't share information you are incapable of sharing as a result of being unconscious, dead or far away.
If you want to know if your character would know something, ask me OOC via Foundry whisper.
Refrain from looking up monster stats etc., enjoy the moment.
🎲 Refrain from min-max behaviour
No matter which ruleset I use or play, I personally don't like to create characters to solely maximize ability combos rather than an interesting story. I dislike seeing it in my players and hope you focus on interesting character development, rather than playing a computer game.
Try it out, you might like playing a multifaceted or flawed character.
🧑🏽⚖️ Rules Lawyer
It is entirely possible that I, as GM, occasionally get the rules wrong. To keep things moving and to prevent the game from dragging, I will make a ruling at that moment, and we can discuss it after the game and adjust it.
To make sure the issue is addressed next time, make a note of it and discuss it with the GM after the session.
I do expect players to know their own feats and abilities thoroughly to make sure other players aren't waiting on you.
🦉 Respect
Do not let disagreements escalate nor bring personal conflicts to the table.
Work out problems before or after the game (stream) and please inform the GM.
Respect the choices of the other players even when they do things you wouldn’t do. Do not try to change their actions.
General courtesy and common sense are key as everyone will understand.
📗 House rules
I have a few house rules so make sure you know these. I will keep these updated and available to all players.
🎉 FUN!
It is obligatory to enjoy yourself ;-)
Roll those dice and let’s embark on an unforgettable adventure together!
