Another week...another artist. Almost sounds like I'll be doing this until 2021, which I won't, but I will keep on highlighting some artist I support. I hope you'll get to know some people that might be of help to you and you may even start supporting their work.
Today I want to introduce the talented LadyLoth, who has specialised as a fantasy & historical artist while being a massive Dungeons&Dragons nerd. She has been showing her work now and again in the Greyhawk community and she is improving with every finished work. I have a feeling she's going to be an enormously talented artist in the near future.
What a great time we live in, that we can connect with any artist on the planet and hire them to create our very own character, epic scene or.. well anything you can think of. The community has also noticed LadyLoth's talent and she is the featured cover artist for Oerth
Journal 33. We will be covering the importance of this magazine in another post but it is ever so clear how vital art is to convey an idea or atmosphere. The cover of the OJ clearly illustrates this. What I find so great about her work is that it shows a realism that mainstream dnd art does not show. It might almost be an image about a real historic period which makes our immersion that much greater.
Thank you Lady Loth for your continued contribution to our beloved Greyhawk community.
What started you on the journey of an illustrator?
D&D did. No kidding. I've always loved to paint, but the massive inspiration struck me when I started playing Dungeons&Dragons and to this day it still is my biggest source of inspiration.
How and when did you get into RPG and did it influence your illustrator skills?
Initially, I got introduced to D&D by having read the Dragonlance novels in my younger years which I absolutely loved. I had a few friends who used to play but I would just watch them play and be jealous, a stressful routine hindered me to participate at the time. Later, when I was about 17 and got into graduate school, I had more time and I got introduced to a D&D group who played 2e in Birthright, this was in 2016.
It was D&D that gave me the biggest source of inspiration as well as motivation to keep pushing my artistic skills forward.
When did Greyhawk come into play?
Greyhawk came into play about 4 years ago, when I met a group that were playing 2e in the world of Greyhawk. I am still in that group, still loving every moment of it. Most people get confused as to why someone my (young) age would play 2e and especially in a discontinued world, but I love it! :D
Which programs do you use to make your fantastic art?
All my art is digital, meaning I make artwork using a digital tablet and pen on a PC. Every motion I make with my pen, on my Wacom tablet, is transferred to my PC and editable in an art program, such as Paint tool SAI, Photoshop, Krita etc. I've used all these programs :)
How can people commission you and for what?
I take commissions about personal (such as digitally painting your character) & commercial work (such as digitally painting a cover for your module which you are planning to sell). People who want to contact me can just send me an Email.
What are your future projects?
I have a few in the works! Some of them are NDA, but I am very excited about a collaboration with a great DM to create monthly RPG content with exclusive artwork.
